Carla Walmsley-Esteves (MA Somatic Wellbeing, BSc Ecology) is a Depth Psychology-Oriented Somatic Psychotherapist accredited by EAP; Registered Somatic Movement Educator(ISMETA); Focusing-Oriented Therapist and Focusing-Oriented Expressive Arts Teacher, Ecopsychologist,
Pre- and Peri-natal Therapist; and a former Menstrual Awareness Facilitator, Childbirth Educator, and Birth/Postnatal Doula. Her work evolves out of 23 years of in-depth practice and training in movement, embodiment, deep ecology and women's studies, bridging the fields of Pre-perinatal Psychology, Somatics and Ecopsychology. She brings extensive experience in teaching and seeing clients privately, through the NHS, and across different educational settings. |
Her clinical practice encompasses a framework that integrates various models of somatic psychotherapy* combined with somatic movement education and Ecopsychology.
Her Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics adheres to the EAP (European Association Psychotherapy) & ISMETA (International Somatic Movement Education Therapy Association) standars. Carla is a guest tutor at Tariki Trust Institute where she teaches courses in Ecosomatics and Ecotherapy workshops. She has taught Ecopsychology at Regent's University London and is available for lectures and workshops. Her work has previously been featured in the books: Yoni Shakti: A woman's guide to power and freedom through yoga and tantra, The ancestral Continuum, and most recently in Eco-social Justice, She is the founder of Somaterra, a non profit educational organization, associated with AnimaTree, dedicated to explore the inter-relationship of body, psyche and earth; and the divulgation of Somatic Ecology Awareness Education. She is currently undertaking a Doctorate in Ecopsychology and Environmental Humanities whilst continue to research and developing an innovative Somatic Ecopsychology approach.
